Fort St. James is a cozy community with approximately 4000 people, including the surrounding area, located at the southeast end of Stuart Lake, approximately 160 km northwest of Prince George and 70 km north of Highway 16 west of Vanderhoof on Highway 27.

 

Rich in history, due to its strong association with the Hudson’s Bay Company and Catholic orders in the 18th and 19th century, it has been known as the historic capital of BC.

 

The region is becoming increasingly popular due to its attraction to the many lakes, forests and wildlife.

Many who visit, return  to enjoy the spectacular beauty  of the wilderness. Some share in the  bountiful hunting and fishing or enjoy hiking and camping.
